Bridgeworks

North side temporary bridge, Workington

The Temporary Bridge was the first direct link for traffic between the north side of the town (Northside and Seaton) over the River Derwent to the south side since the floods in 2009.

Nelson Bridge, Carlisle

The works involved the widening of Nelson Bridge, originally built in 1852, to accommodate an additional carriageway and comprised extensions to the existing abutments on bored cast in-situ piles.

Castledykes Bridge, Dumfries

The renamed Kirkpatrick Macmillan Bridge, formerly known as Castledykes, is a steel deck supported from twin, inwardly tilted circular steel arches by high tensile macalloy bars. The ballustrading is of stainless steel and was specifically designed and fabricated for this structure. The lighting units are set within the balustrade posts.

Sark bridge widening, Gretna

Works comprised of the demolition of an existing steel bailey bridge together with the extension of an existing sandstone twin arched bridge. The existing carriageway was in operation at all times with minimal disruption caused, whilst the new bridge façade was constructed in new materials to match the existing stonework.
