The skatepark was developed in close consultation with the Unity Wheeled Projects Group, a charitable organisation formed in 2000 by local skaters to progress and promote the scheme and Dumfries and Galloway Design Services.

Story Construction’s work comprised the construction of this reinforced concrete skatepark including sprayed concrete and bitmac finishings.

The main features are:

  • a fun box
  • semi bowls
  • square rails
  • steps
  • flat banks
  • a big hip
  • benches
  • ledges of various heights
  • and a curved ledge with flowing smooth lines

The skatepark is constructed as a reinforced concrete slab with the various elements consisting of reinforced concrete or sprayed concrete. To minimise surface cracking numerous crack inducers were incorporated into the concrete.
