DG One Leisure Complex, Dumfries

Construction of £17.2m leisure, sport and entertainment complex, with three swimming pool areas including leisure water, an 80 station fitness suite, health suite with sauna, steam room and spa pool, a 6 court sports hall, conference and meeting facilities, café and bar.

Story Construction Ltd acted as groundworks contractor for Kiers and were appointed to carry out the substructure and foul, surface and rainwater drainage works to the DG One Dumfries pool and leisure centre. The initial works included breaking down all concrete pile foundations, casting reinforced concrete ring beams and pad foundations.

Following on from these works, Story were subsequently awarded further packages such as the reinforced insitu basement construction using waterproof concrete, insitu concrete floor slabs and the external works. Works also comprised construction of new car park facilities and hard landscaping as well as alterations to the existing highways.

The works were coordinated with other subcontractors and completed to Kier Northern programme.
