Annie Pit Transformer Replacement, Cumbria
The works consisted of a replacement primary sub-station with the construction of the civil infrastructure associated with the requirements for two replacement 33Kv transformer plinths/bunds together with associated electrical bases.
This included the demolition of existing bases, brickwork walls to allow for the excavation of the sub-station sub-structure to facilitate the construction of a reinforced concrete raft and bund walls.
The acoustic superstructure housing the two 33Kv transformer was constructed in traditional brick and blockwork cavity walling between reinforced concrete columns complete with suspended concrete roof beams including sand /cement screed and roof felting. The works also included the provision of heating and lighting to the housings.
Externally, the works comprised of the installation of palisade fencing, provision of surface water drainage for rainwater discharging into the existing local drainage, installation of underground cable ducting and draw pits and the provision of a vehicular hardstandings and general landscaping with limestone chippings.
