Winscales Moor Wind Farm, Cumbria

The Winscales Moor Wind Farm is located near Workington in Cumbria.

The wind farm comprised seven Vestas V52 turbines and 2.5km of site roads along with the construction of a site access to adoptable standards and 3km of cabling and connection to the national grid.

Story Construction were employed as a Balance of Plant EPC Civil and Electrical Infrastructure Contractor. The design included specialist piling techniques due to the site being located on a re-filled open-cast coal mine and discharging planning conditions.

The contract period initially appeared easily achievable however, due to the delivery date for the Vestas steel can sections, we had only five weeks to complete the seven turbine foundations.
