Cumwhinton Water Treatment Works, Cumbria
Works comprised a wide variety of subcontract packages to HMB Alliance incorporating the demolition of an existing Victorian reservoir, initial site earthworks, all reinforced concrete construction works and a wide variety of pipework including ductile iron pipework.
Excavation and construction of service buildings including:
- dirty wash-water tank
- wash-water lamella tanks
- sludge thickening tanks
- main control building
- rapid gravity filters
- Zemdrain lined formwork
Ancillary works, including formation of access road, installation of drainage and ductwork, blockwork, hard and soft landscaping and infrastructure/services track excavations. Approximately 6000m3 of reinforced concrete and 700 tonnes of reinforced steel was used in the construction of the works.
